Landscape Crew Leader

Seasonal Full-Time | Portland Metro | $23–$27/hour | Starting Early September 2026

Noble Root is hiring a Seasonal Landscape Crew Leader for our fall installation season. You’ll lead a small field crew (1–2 people) installing and maintaining residential gardens, with an emphasis on planting, softscaping, and ecological landscape practices. 

This is a seasonal position with the potential to continue as a full-time position with benefits for Spring 2027 for the right person based on performance. 

The Role

  • Lead and direct a 1–2 person crew in daily field work 

  • Install and maintain residential landscapes, with an emphasis on gardens and softscaping 

  • Perform planting, soil prep, pruning, weeding, mulching, edging, plant removal, and seasonal cleanups 

  • Assist with small-scale hardscape work, including gravel paths and edging 

  • Drive a truck and trailer to Portland-metro job sites 

  • Keep crew productive, organized, safe, and on schedule 

  • Follow priorities and schedules set by the Project Manager and communicate progress, delays, and job-site issues 

  • Train crew members in proper techniques and safe work practices 

  • Maintain clean, organized trucks, tools, and job sites 

  • Represent Noble Root professionally and warmly on client properties 

What We’re Looking For

  • 1–3+ years of hands-on landscape experience 

  • Strong planting and landscape maintenance skills 

  • Previous crew leadership experience preferred 

  • Reliable, organized, and able to work independently 

  • Clear communicator and positive team leader 

  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and comfortable driving a truck/trailer 

  • Reliable transportation and ability to consistently arrive at Portland-metro job sites on time 

  • Able to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical work outdoors in varying weather 

The Details

  • $23–$27/hour, depending on experience 

  • 30–40 hours/week, Monday–Thursday, typically 7:30am–5:30pm 

  • No weekends or regular overtime 

  • Seasonal position beginning September 8, 2026 

  • Potential for full-time, year-round employment with benefits beginning Spring 2027 

  • Work with a company committed to ecological landscaping- no pesticides, herbicides, or synthetic fertilizers. No lawn care.
