Are you a passionate landscape designer ready to bring ecological and edible gardens to life—both on screen and in the field? Noble Root is seeking a motivated, creative self-starter to join our mission-driven team. If you love designing behind the computer and working in the field, this is your chance to shape sustainable residential landscapes that nourish the environment and the people who live in them.

Who We Are

Noble Root is not your typical landscaping company. We’re woman-owned, values-driven, and dedicated to transforming outdoor spaces into thriving ecosystems. Our designs go beyond aesthetics—they support pollinators, provide homegrown meals, and craft outdoor environments tailored to our clients’ lifestyles.

We believe that conservation starts at home. Whether it's a backyard food forest or a small urban oasis, every project contributes to a healthier planet. Serving Portland and Vancouver, WA areas, we uphold organic practices, educate clients about their landscapes, and provide a high-touch experience from vision to installation.

If you’re the type of person who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys building smarter ways of working, you’ll fit right in. We’re looking for a creative and organized team player eager to help us create a world-class design/build company that redefines the landscaping industry.

The Role

As a Landscape Designer & Install Associate, you’ll bridge digital design and hands-on implementation. Your time will be split between creating CAD landscape plans and working in the field to ensure your designs take root—literally. (est. 65/35 computer-to-field)

Responsibilities:

  • Provide welcoming and professional communications by email, phone, and text to ensure a positive and top-notch client and vendor experience.

  • Meet with clients and conduct site visits to collect data for the design process, identify plants, and document with photos/video.

  • Conduct client design presentations by video and in-person, facilitate and incorporate client change requests tactfully.

  • Ensure clients feel supported and heard through the entire design+install process.

  • Collaborate with the design team and provide feedback on design concepts from initial sketches to final digital renderings and planting plans.

  • Create base maps, hand-drawn concepts, hardscape and detailed plantscape plans in Vectorworks.

  • Use project management tools (Asana) to coordinate designs and installations to ensure deadlines are met; schedule materials and vendors for installations.

  • Lead plant procurement and sourcing of softscape materials.

  • Capture before-and-after transformation stories through video and photography for marketing.

  • Assist in maintaining a plant database.

  • Participate in plant installations by placing and planting plants (no hardscaping).

  • Administrative tasks and errands.
